One dead in fiery Davidsonville crash

One person has died after an accident along Route 50 in Davidsonville.  Anne Arundel Fire Department rescue crews were dispatched to a vehicle fire and crash along Route 50 westbound in the area of Patuxent River Road (just prior to the Prince George’s  County line) shortly before 3:00am. Anne Arundel 1st Alert has reported that it may involve a tractor trailer.

Crews arrived to find the fire out and bystanders reporting that people were trapped in the vehicle. Medics initally called for a helicopter for the patient who was burned over 100% of his/her body; but the helicopter was canceled when the victim succumbed to their injuries.

Route 50 west has been closed and will remain closed for several hours while Maryland State Police investigate the accident.
