Fatal accident shuts Route 50 in Annapolis

At least one person has died in a three car accident on Route 50 eastbound in Annapolis. Shortly before 3:00pm, rescue crews were called to Route 50 east in the area of Route 665 (Aris T. Allen Blvd) exit.

Three vehicles were involved and two helicopters were called to fly 2 patients in critical condition to shock-trauma. The highway was briefly shut down in both directions; and at this writing (515pm) eastbound Route 50 remains closed for the investigation.

The Maryland State Police is investigating the accident and has not issued any additional information regarding the cause, or the names of any involved. We will update this as information becomes available.
