Local women open business incubator in Annapolis’ Design District

gallery 3976Local designers recently opened a small business incubator right in the heart of the Annapolis Design District.

Suzi Jett and Chatty Peddicord wanted a larger space for their growing clothing business, Annapolis Brand, and ultimately created Gallery 3976 – a collection of 14 local artists and artisans.

After an exhaustive search last summer, the pair found an ideal space albeit one too large for just their business. Through their connections in the art and crafting industry, they found many local small business owners also in need of more space to grow their businesses. It seemed natural to bring in others.

“We wanted to share space with other complementary small business owners and work together to create something really unique and special,” said owner Suzi Jett. “Gallery 3976 is a working studio as well as a venue for retail opportunities. We run our businesses separately, but we help market each others businesses and team together to promote the entire project,” she added.

Gallery gangGallery 3976 is now operating with 14 businesses including

  • AHR Photodesign
  • Annapolis Brand
  • Annapolis Candle
  • By the Bay Creations
  • Davenport Art
  • Cedarwood Soaps
  • Deborah E. Watson Decorative  Painting and Fine Arts
  • 5 Seconds Consulting
  • Furniture Speaks
  • Knot Shore
  • Old Things New
  • Pier 77
  • Ramon Matheu Pop Art
  • Scout Cart

The partners also strongly believe in giving back to the community. They have already held a successful and entertaining fundraiser for the Chesapeake Ballet Company at Gallery 3976 and plan to hold one each quarter of the year to benefit local non profits.

“We need to support our community and holding events for local charities allows us to do so and introduce more people to Gallery 3976,” Jett said.

Gallery 3976 is open the last Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., and invites shoppers in to purchase merchandise directly from the small businesses.

An official grand opening and ribbon cutting are scheduled for March 28 at 11am. All are welcome to attend.
