Echosmith celebrates double platinum status at 930 Club

Echosmith is on the radar and will surely be America’s newest sweethearts. Keep your eyes peeled for them on late night television as they will be performing on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday, March 2nd.  This past Thursday, they sold out the 930 Club in DC and absolutely enchanted the crowd. The show itself didn’t take long to sell out, and the room was packed wall to wall with the most diverse group of fans I have ever witnessed at a show.

Opening for Echosmith was another California band,  The Colourist. They had a male and female vocalist and were very much indie rock fusion. Their music was light and upbeat, convincing several parents to dance around and absolutely humiliate their kids. Their female singer, Maya Tuttle, also is their drummer. The lead male, Adam Castilla, also played guitar. They were an absolute blast to listen to, and even played their newest single, When I’m Away, which will be dropped next week.

As for the main attraction, Echosmith took the stage to thunderous cheers. During their set, they explained that a portion of their poster sales went towards building a school in the Philippines! Not only are they a rocking band, but they’re also trying to change the world! They had incredible stage presence, bassist Noah Sierota (check out my interview with him) could hardly keep still! This family knew how to work the crowd, and by the end of their set had the entire audience clapping and singing along. Of course, singer Sydney spun her iconic parasol as she sang. Echosmith was well-rehearsed and knew exactly what they were doing. Some of the members even switched to different instruments! Noah and Sydney both drummed and Sydney even dabbled in the tambourine!

All in all, it was a wonderful night for the fans; but the thrill of the night probably went to Echosmith themselves as they got word that their debut single, Cool Kids, had just been certified double platinum with over 2 million copies sold.

Congrats guys!
