Celine Cousteau to speak at Severn School

CousteauSevern School has announced that this year’s Astle Lecture speaker is Céline Cousteau, the daughter of ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau and granddaughter of legendary explorer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau.

Cousteau will talk with students during the school day on Tuesday, April 14, and then address the community at large that evening beginning at 7:30p in the Edward St. John Athletic Center.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees must register through the school’s website.

As one of the premier environmental speakers in the industry, Cousteau brings wit, wisdom, and insight, showing all audiences why the Earth and its unique ecosystems deserve every citizen’s respect and attention.

Cousteau will tell stories from her many explorations forging her own trail on unique solo expeditions. Sharing her unique personal photographs, she captivates audiences with her incredible voyages into the deep.

The David Astle Memorial Lecture Series was established by Maryland State Senator John and Jayne Astle in 1998 after the tragic accidental death of their son David Sheridan Astle. A 1992 Severn School alumnus, David was an active member of the school community during his seven years as a student, and a well liked member of the alumni body. The endowment funds an annual lecture series through which knowledgeable and/or inspirational speakers are invited to share their expertise, experiences, and messages with the community.
