Cavallino Classic 24 Concorso d’Eleganza draws Annapolis photographer

I was lucky enough to be able to attend the Cavallino Classic 24 Concorso d’Eleganza on the lawn of the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida.  It’s a gathering of 150 Ferrari automobiles in an unique surrounding, the manicured lawn of the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach.

The morning started overcast with the threat of rain. Eventually a brief shower did fall around noon, sending attendees seeking cover. After the brief shower one could find owners or caretakers of the cars wiping down their cars of the rain drops. For a short amount of time after the shower the field was fairly clear of spectators and it afforded an opportune time to get some great photos of the cars without large groups of people around them.

The shear collection of cars was overwhelming everything from vintage racing Bugatti’s to modern day Ferrari’s on display. Many of the cars were there to be judged to hopefully gain the coveted Platinum award, the highest award possible for a car. Excluding some of the special awards, like Best in Show.

The weather did finally clear up and the sun did come out at the end of the day. Some of the more notable people there were the Keno twins from PBS’s Antique Roadshow who were showing their vintage car, and Velocity channel’s Wayne Carini from the show Chasing Classic Cars who also had a car in the show. All and all the day turned out to be an amazing experience. I’m definitely planning on attending again next year.
