Police arrest 4 in Edgewater attempted armed robbery

On January 20, 2015, at approximately 6:26 p.m., officers from the Southern District responded to the Edgewater Park located in the 200 block of Maryland Way in Edgewater, for a reported attempted robbery and shots fired that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 21-year-old male victim from Edgewater, who stated that he was confronted by a group of suspects as he was walking through the park. The victim became fearful of the group and turned around, running away from them after they demanded property from him. The victim heard the sound of gunshots coming from where he last saw the group as he was running away. The victim was not injured and immediately called the police. The suspects fled the area on foot and the victim was able to provide the direction the suspects fled. Responding officers established a perimeter around the area. A canine unit and aviation unit responded to assist in searching for the suspects.

Two of the suspects were found hiding in the area and were taken into custody and positively identified as suspects involved in the incident. The two remaining suspects were also located and taken into custody. All four suspects were charged with Attempted First Degree Robbery, First Degree Assault and Second Degree Assault.

  • Suspect #2: Christopher Daniel Jarin, 18, of 1600 block Elkridge Drive, Edgewater, Md
  • Suspect #3: A 15-year-old male from Edgewater, Md
  • Suspect #4: A 13-year-old male from Edgewater, Md
