LEGO® Robot qualifier tournament returns to AACC

legorobotRobots will be put through their paces on Saturday, Jan. 24, when 16 teams of 9-to-14-year-olds from around the county and the region compete in the “Battle by the Bay,” a First® LEGO® League qualifier tournament at Anne Arundel Community College.

Competitions take place in the Center for Applied Learning and Technology on the west side of AACC’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. The community is welcome to watch the competitions, with noon-4 p.m. the best time to see the action. Teams are judged on robot design, a team project and the team’s ability to work together to solve problems in a series of robot tasks. Winners advance to the Maryland Championship. Admission is free. See http://www.aacc.edu/engineering/fll1.cfm for more information.

AACC also is seeking volunteers to help with the day’s activities. To find out what’s involved, contact Marjorie Rawhouser, associate professor of engineering at [email protected] or Beth Wyler, associate professor of engineering, at [email protected].
