Deale fire destroys home that was being rebuilt after fatal fire in March

On January 15th at 8:25 a.m., Anne Arundel County Fire Communications began receiving multiple calls reporting an explosion and fire in a dwelling in the 600 block of East Marshall Road in Deale. The first arriving unit reported a two story, single family dwelling under construction with heavy fire throughout. They requested a second alarm, bringing 55 firefighters from Anne Arundel, Prince George’s and Calvert Counties as well as Annapolis City to the scene. The fire was brought under control in about one hour. Members of the Fire & Explosives Investigation Unit determined the fire to be accidental and the cause is believed to be a leaking propane heating system used in the construction process. Damages are estimated at approximately $175,000. There were no injuries.

The house under construction was being built in replacement of a house that was destroyed by fire on March 20, 2014, killing the lone occupant of the home.
