In his second year on the Swanepoel Power 200, Jon Coile, president and CEO of Champion Realty, has advanced to the top half of the 200-person ranking of the most powerful people in residential real estate. Coile jumped to the number 92 slot on the 2014-15 list, up from 132 a year ago.

The list is based on a meticulous analysis of the strengths and achievements of hundreds of leaders representing different sectors of the North American real estate industry. (See the complete list at www.swanepoel.com/power200.)

According to Rob Hahn, executive editor, and Stefan Swanepoel, editor in chief of the Swanepoel Power 200, the editorial team spent more than 400 hours to select the top 200, weighing each person’s experience and clout as well as their company’s significance, contribution to the industry, geographic reach and potential for growth.

Among Coile’s notable real estate contributions:

  • Chairman of the board of MRIS, the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) for the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Secretary/treasurer and board member of The Realty Alliance, a network of 70 forward-thinking real estate firms in North America.
  • Co-founder of the FairDisplay.org project, a group of industry leaders including brokers, MLS executives and industry futurists who define standards for the fair operation of a public-facing MLS website.
