This past week, investigators with the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Child Abuse Unit began an undercover investigation by communicating online with individuals who were soliciting young females on the internet for sex.

The investigator posed online as a 14-year-old girl. During these communications, the suspect solicited the investigator for this purpose and suggested that they meet for a sexual encounter. On January 14, 2015, one suspect attempted to meet the “14-year-old” at an undisclosed location in Anne Arundel County. Once he arrived at that predetermined location, he was taken into custody and identified as Johnathan Michael Kirtz. Kirtz was arrested and charged with Sexual Solicitation of a Minor.

Detectives from the Child Abuse Unit participate with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. They have received specialized training to conduct these types of investigations.

Suspect: Johnathan Michael Kirtz, 24, of 2800 block Roselawn Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland. Kirtz is being held on $40,000 bond.
