A 4-alarm fire ripped through a waterfront home in Annapolis this morning.  Shortly after 3am, crews were dispatched to 936 Childs Point Road for a structure fire. Arriving units saw heavy fire from the second floor and immediately called for a 2nd alarm. A third and fourth alarm were eventually called.  Fireboats were on the scene and used to establish a water supply from the South River and Church Creek. To complicate operations, an underground propane tank became involved and began spewing flames into the air. Due to the danger in fighting the fire, the building was evacuated and external operations were used.  The status of any occupants is unknown at this time as crews still remain on the scene. The fire was placed under control shortly after 7:00am.

The home is a 16,000 square foot home on nearly 8 acres of waterfront property and was built in 2005. The home’s assessed value is $6.2 million and looks to be a total loss. The home was currently for sale.

More information will be forthcoming.
