So, there were hundreds of Santas in Annapolis yesterday?

Yes Virginia, it’s true!  The 2nd Annual Annapolis SantaCon organized by the Hospice Hundred Committee benefiting Chesapeake Kids happened yesterday with great success.

SantaCon is part pub-crawl, part fundraiser, part flash mob; but most definitely and a whole lot of holiday madness and fun.  Anyone and everyone who wanted to get into the Christmas spirit by supporting a good cause while parading from bar-to-bar through the streets of downtown Annapolis was there.

SantaCon is an annual mass gathering of people dressed as Santa parading publicly in the streets, bars, and cities around the world. The focus is on spontaneity and creativity, while having a good time and spreading cheer and goodwill. SantaCon incorporates elements of a flash mob in the context of cheerful and harmless behavior, the singing of Christmas carols, and the giving of small gifts to strangers.

Just as Santa is said to bring gifts to the homes of good children throughout the world, SantaCon brings the gift of hope to the sick children of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s County who are in need of quality perinatal and pediatric palliative care or need counseling and support programs for grieving a loss of a loved one.

But next week….it will be a whole different scene as the Santa Speedo Run takes off from Blackwall Hitch!

Merry Christmas!
