The speaker will be Mr. Robin Hartge, who will relate the history of the class of sailboats that became known as the Chesapeake 20s. He will tell us how the boats evolved from the hard chine to the popular round bottom, which was designed by his grandfather Captain Dick Hartge in the mid-1930s.Robin will talk about the friendly sailing rivalries around the Bay – from the Eastern & Western sides and between the West River Boys and the Fairhaven Boys.
Come to the dinner and lecture and discover how the Chesapeake 20s were so well suited to sail in the fickle winds of the West River and the other tributaries that flow into the Bay.
