annapolisevangelicallutheranOn the first Sunday in 2015, January 4th, Pastor Carter Askren will be installed as Associate Pastor of the congregation of Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Pastor Askren will assist current Pastor, Gerald Miller, at the mission church, now in its fourth year.

“We welcome Pastor Carter and I look forward to working with him in ministry”, said Pr Miller. “This marks a major milestone in the growth of our church”.

The Installation Worship Service will be conducted by Pr. Mark Chavez, General Secretary of North American Lutheran Church (NALC) of which Annapolis Lutheran is a member. The service begins at 9am with a reception to follow at the Annapolis Area Christian School, 716 Bestgate Road, where the congregation holds its regular worship services.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve at Annapolis Lutheran,” said Pr. Askren. “This congregation takes seriously the Lord’s call to discipleship, not just in growing spiritually, but in serving our neighbors and sharing the Good News of Christ with the world. I look forward to working with Pr. Gerry Miller and the congregation.”

Pr. Carter Askren previously served Living Word Lutheran Church (NALC) in Fredericksburg, VA, from 2013-2014. He has worked as a communications consultant for Lutheran Coalition for Renewal since 2011. Ordained in 2005, Pr. Askren served his first call at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Washington, NC. Before attending Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary, he worked for almost twelve years as director of communications at Duke University Divinity School. A graduate of the University of Georgia, he earned the Master of Theological Studies degree from Duke Divinity School and the Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. He and his wife Susan are the parents of two children. His outside interests include model rocketry, tai chi ch’uan, photography, and cooking.
