Airport exhibit spotlights AACC students’ designs

PillowFromPalmTreesStudents from Anne Arundel Community College were selected to compete in a first-of-its-kind design competition and are featured in The Art of Living exhibition at Dulles International Airport through November. The innovative project, which merges fashion and interior design, opened Sept. 29, at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

Created with support from and in cooperation with the AACC American Society for Interior Designers Student Chapter, the exhibit features story boards complimented by architectural models curated by the AACC chapter of American Institute of Architecture Students. The project was directed by Dimitra Tangires, AACC instructor of architecture and interior design. The exhibition is being hosted by The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority as part of its Arts in Airports program.

The AACC Department of Architecture, Interior Design and Construction Management includes an Interior Design Option Associate of Applied Science degree and credit certificates in Interior Design and Advanced Interior Design. Students also can earn degrees in architecture, construction management and landscape design.

Students may join the AACC’s Student Chapter of the American Society for Interior Designers of which Professor Tangires is the senior faculty advisor. Through the curriculum and club projects, students have entered and won local, state and national competitions. For information, visit www.aacc.edu/architecture/ACH_Interior_Des.cfm.
