AACC Foundation names new Executive Director

Vollie Melson is the new executive director of the AACC Foundation Inc.

Anne Arundel Community College has chosen Vollie Melson of Annapolis to lead the AACC Foundation Inc. as its executive director.

Melson brings 20 years of leadership and fundraising experience, spending his last seven years at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. In his most recent position as vice president for development, he led a team of 29 employees in raising more than $66 million in three years, expanded the base of major donor prospects and reorganized the foundation’s major gift team.

Melson has been an active volunteer in the community since moving to Annapolis in 2005. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and earned a Master of Public Administration from the George Washington University, attending the Indiana University School of Philanthropy Fundraising Program and the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government Executive Education Program, as well as took courses at the Wesley Theological Seminary.

In fiscal year 2013, the foundation received contributions totaling $2,033,832 to support both scholarships and college programs. It manages more than 270 scholarship funds are are awarded to hundreds of students each year.
