shenandoah runThe Chesapeake Arts Center is proud to announce classic and contemporary music group, Shenandoah Run, in an all age concert on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 7:00pm.The concert will be held in the Studio 194 theatre and tickets are available for purchase online at www.Chesapeakearts.org or by calling the Chesapeake Arts Center Box Office at P: 410-636-6597.

Shenandoah Run is a nine-member classic and contemporary folk group and we have been performing in the Washington, DC area for three years. Each of the group’s members hails from Maryland or Virginia and their individual musicality, vocal and instrumental talent, as well as a strong desire to keep folk music alive and fresh, is key to the group’s success. Shenandoah Run blends vintage and contemporary folk music in a manner that appeals to all listeners.

We present the songs and sounds of American folk music, with an occasional infusion of songs from other lands and from the worlds of country and bluegrass. From the esoteric to the toe-tappingly familiar, our songs are treated to a lush vocal harmony and skillful instrumental backing that defines what is becoming our instantly recognizable sound. We present arrangements that are fresh, varied, and unique, while keeping with the spirit of the folk-music sound and we deliver it all with a chemistry that delights both audiences and we, the performers.

Shenandoah Run has released its first full-length CD entitled “Winter To Spring”. It is a compilation of classic and new folk songs, including an original song written by one of the group members and the CD has been met with great interest and sales are doing well.

We have performed at a variety of venues, including some of the most prominent, such as the Washington National Folk Festival, Maryland Hall for the Performing Arts, the Avalon Theatre and Jammin Java. We have done so well at these venues that we are invited back multiple times. Every Shenandoah Run performance to-date has either been a sell-out or played to a capacity audience. We have entertained audiences of all ages and have developed a fan base that is constantly growing. In addition, we have performed for a number of community concert venues, including Vienna, Falls Church (twice), Annapolis (three times) and Fairfax County, to name a few.
