paddingtonThe illustrator of more than 100 children’s books, including the popular Paddington Bear books, Robert Alley, Severn class of 1974 and his wife are scheduled to pay a visit to both Severn campuses next month. Zoë B. Alley is a children’s book author.

The Alleys will visit the Lower School on Monday, 11/10, to read aloud from their books, conduct an illustration demonstration while discussing art techniques, and answer student questions.

Lower School Art teacher Ms. Jonnie Friedman and media specialist Ms. Maura Parisi are preparing students by reading and discussing the Alley’s books and illustrations.

“I’m teaching my students just what an illustrator is and what they do,” commented Jonnie. “We will go through the steps of illustration and then the students will make their own sketches and add color.”

Tuesday, November 11 finds the Alleys addressing both the Middle and Upper Schoolers in morning meetings and art and English classes.

The Alleys will sign their books at the end of each of the 2 days.
