Holiday candelight stroll with Hammond-Harwood tour

Candlelight strollThe holidays will soon be here and Watermark is making it easy to plan fun activities for families and couples. Annapolis Tours℠ by Watermark® is thrilled to announce its Holiday Candlelight Stroll will return for the 2014 holiday season. A Colonial period-dressed guide leads guests through the historic district by candlelight and shares the origin of many holiday customs. New for 2014, guests on the tour will enjoy a guided tour inside the historic Hammond Harwood House decorated for the holidays, included in the ticket price.

“We are excited to expand this popular holiday tour and include the beautiful Hammond Harwood House. We often take guests on private tours through the historic home but this is the first time our Candlelight Stroll will include an interior home tour,” says Heather Skipper, Director of Land Operations, “It’s something our guests have requested in the past and we’re happy we can provide it this year through our partnership with Hammond Harwood House. It’s the perfect way to end an evening tour of the city’s historic district…inside one of our most treasured homes!”

During the evening stroll, welcome the holidays with a pleasant remembrance of Christmas past. Glowing lanterns light your way as you stroll around Maryland’s historic State Capital, all trimmed in holiday greenery.  During this festive 1 ½ hour tour you will learn about the origin of many holiday customs. From the significance of evergreens, yule logs and even Christmas trees to the song “sing a song of sixpence, pocketful of rye…,” there is no better way to get into the holiday spirit than a glimpse into what made Christmas what it is today. The Hammond Harwood House will be decorated for the season according to this year’s theme, “A Very Maryland Christmas.” Garden Clubs from around the region will share their personal stories of Maryland through holiday decorations in each of the historic home’s rooms. The tour will include time in the home’s gift shop and holiday greenery sale.

Enjoy the holiday décor around Annapolis as you take a glimpse into what made Christmas the holiday celebration it is today. Offered on Friday and Saturday evenings (except December 13) from December 5-20. Tickets are $18/Adults, $12/Children 3-11, Free 2 & Under. Tours depart from the City Dock Information Booth at 7 p.m. 1 ½ hour tour. Advance reservations are available online at www.annapolistours.com. Private tours are available anytime.
