On Friday, November 28, at 8 pm, classically trained guitarist Flavio Sala will perform “Guitars Without Borders,” a concert that will showcase his captivating versatility as a performer. From Frederic Chopin to Eric Clapton, Johann Sebastian Bach to Carlos Santana and Fernando Sor, from classical to flamenco to pop, Flavio loves to surprise his audiences with the range of his mastery. The concert will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis (UUCA), 333 Dubois Road. Tickets are $15 at the door. For more information visit www.uuannapolis.org/slider/fourth-friday or call 410-266-8044.

Occurring as it does the evening after Thanksgiving, Flavio’s concert is the perfect venue for an entertaining evening with family and friends. Audience members are likely to hear Spanish composers, music from Venezuela, and even classical composers. Among the composers this Italian-born and internationally known guitarist is expected to play are Bach, Chopin, Eric Clapton, Carlos Santana, Vicente Asencio, Fernando Sor, Federico Moreno-Torroba, Agustin Barrios Mangore and more.

Flavio Sala’s concert is part of the “Brian Ganz and Friends” series offered monthly on the fourth Friday of each month to benefit the UUCA’s work.

Flavio came to the U.S. this year on a three-year Visa for Artists. “My goal is to travel around the world, making people happy, falling in love with my guitar, playing all the music I love and showing them how much power six nylon strings have! Yes, I love dreaming big!” he says. That’s why Flavio Sala’s shows are unique: they can start with Bach and end with a pop song, crossing different music styles, experiencing a mix of feelings. Forget about your problems and how hard life could sometimes be,” says Flavio. Music makes you walk where the steps cannot go and that is what I want people to live during my shows.

Flavio Sala has toured extensively in Europe, Russia, the United States, South America and Cuba, performing with renowned musicians all over the world. He has appeared with likes of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Milano Classica, Jury Bashmet New Russia Orchestra, Russian Philharmony, Mina Gerais Symphony Orchestra and Yekaterinburg Folk Orchestra, playing in venues in Moscow, Rome, Athens, Caracas, Buenos Aires, San Francisco and other places, and now he brings his artistry to Annapolis.

This program is the 9th in a year-long ticketed concert series offered monthly on the 4th Friday at 8PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis (UUCA). Individual tickets are $15, and a five concert “series ticket” can be obtained at the door for $60. The next concert is December 26 and will feature jazz pianist Burnett Thompson. See www.uuannapolis.org/slider/fourth-friday for future programming.
