County firefighters rescue Hanover woman from burning home

Post Road 1Anne Arundel County Firefighters this afternoon rescued a woman from a two alarm dwelling fire in Hanover. Just after 12:30, Anne Arundel County 911 began receiving multiple calls reporting a dwelling fire in the 7600 block of Post Road with reports an occupant trapped inside. Fire Department units arrived moments after dispatch to find a one story, single family dwelling with heavy smoke from all windows of the structure. A search of the residence was initiated in conjunction with an aggressive interior attack and an unconscious female occupant was located and removed from the dwelling. The occupant, believed to be in her 70s, was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with critical, life threatening injuries.

The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes by 47 firefighters from Anne Arundel and Howard Counties, Baltimore Washington International Airport and Fort Meade. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Anne Arundel County Fire Investigators.

In addition to the occupant removed from the dwelling, an 82 year old male occupant of the structure and a firefighter were transported to BWMC with minor injuries.
