The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center is getting ready to host its last two evening science lectures of the year. They’re free, public-friendly, and give interested locals a chance to learn about major environmental issues impacting the Chesapeake directly from scientists.
Event: Smithsonian Science Lecture: Chesapeake Fish and Climate Change
Location: Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (Schmidt Conference Center)
647 Contees Wharf Road, Edgewater, MD 21037
Date/Time: Tuesday, Oct. 21, 7-8pm
Description: Learn about environmental issues on the Bay and in your backyard from Smithsonian ecologists working on the Chesapeake. This month, join Smithsonian ecologist Seth Miller in discovering what climate change may have in store for fish in Chesapeake Bay. Learn how laboratory experiments can simulate future climate scenarios, and what this could mean for forage fish in the Bay and how the Bay as a whole could look in the future.
The event is free—a curious mind is all you need to bring!
Lecture starts at 7pm, with light refreshments at 6:30. More info: http://www.serc.si.edu/public_programs/ev_lec.aspx
