Magnet program seeking intern opportunities

Are you a local business which utilizes any type of art?  The Performing and Visual Arts (PVA) High School Magnet program may be a perfect solution to bolster your workforce with an intern.

The Performing and Visual Arts (PVA) High School Magnet program offers serious art students the opportunity to continue building their artistic skill and gain real-world experience to prepare for higher education or a career in the arts. Located at Annapolis and Broadneck High Schools the program fosters effective communication, aesthetic and critical thinking, and self-direction through an intense academic and arts curriculum taught by qualified teachers, professional artists, and teaching artists.

Students are able to focus their study in one of the Arts Majors: Music (Vocal, Guitar, or Instrumental), Dance, Theater, Film, Technical Design and Theatre Production/Arts Management, Creative Writing, or Visual Arts (2-D Studio Art, 3- D Studio Art, and Digital Media).

The PVA internship format is designed to allow students to:

  • Participate in the daily work of professionals in their workplace
  • Engage in collaborative project work alongside mentors and their colleagues
  • Experience the full spectrum of expectations, job skills, and opportunities related to success in the workplace,
  • Evaluate and reflect on the work of a professional through active, daily on-the-job personnel workplace exchanges.

Internships should meet the following criteria:

  • Guided by a qualified mentor
  • Duties are career-focused in nature and encompass the required 135 hours
  • The internship is mutually benefitting the mentor and the student
  • Intern is learning one or more new skills or advancing one or more current skills to higher levels.
