BREAKING: pedestrian struck along Duke of Gloucester Street dies of injuries

UPDATE 5:28pm October 28, 2014.  From the Annapolis Police Department:

Officers from the Annapolis Police Department Traffic Safety Unit are investigating a fatal traffic accident involving a pedestrian.

At 3:18 p.m. an 81 year old male driver was operating a vehicle on Duke of Gloucester Street near Conduit Street when he struck a vehicle parked on the south side of Duke of Gloucester Street.  After the accident the driver crossed Duke of Gloucester Street and went over the curb and onto the sidewalk on the northern side of the road.  The vehicle struck a 23 year old woman walking on the sidewalk.  The woman was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center where she died from her injuries.  The driver remained on the scene and is assisting us with the investigation.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.  Police are not releasing information on the vehicle or identity of the driver or pedestrian at this time.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle outside of City Hall on Duke of Gloucester Street this afternoon. Details are limited but from what we have heard,the pedestrian was walking along the street when a car left the roadway. The victim suffered very serious injuries.

Duke of Gloucester Street is closed from Conduit Street to Green Street and is expected to be closed for an extended period.

More details will be published as they become available.

Anne Arundel 1st Alert is reporting that one patient has been transported to AAMC with life threatening injuries.
