Nominations sought for 2014 Volunteer Hall of Fame

VolunteersEach year hundreds of volunteers participate in projects/programs that help our community. Many awards are given to recognize groups and individuals for their hard work.  However many of us are unfamiliar with the background, collaboration and impact of the projects themselves.

These Awards, sponsored by the Volunteer Center For Anne Arundel County and the Coordinators of Volunteers of Anne Arundel County, will honor volunteer projects that have had the most impact in Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis in 2013-14.

Nominations are invited for volunteer projects sponsored by local nonprofit or faith-based organizations, schools, local businesses, governmental agencies or other groups. The volunteer project must not be for the sole benefit of a for-profit business.

Volunteer Project Nomination Forms are now available. Nominations must be completed and received by the Volunteer Center no later than 5 pm, Friday, October 17, 2014.

Volunteer project award categories vary each year, but projects have included: Environmental, School-Based, Faith-Based, Business-Based, Boomer, Innovation, Living History and Kids At Hope®.

A “Neighbor to Neighbor” project award category was added in 2013 to highlight community interaction, connectivity and care for our neighbors. Communities engaged in their own change – showing that there are neighbors nearby who are willing and able to join together and provide help at a moment’s notice.

Approximately eight (8) award winners will be announced at the Induction Luncheon Celebration to be held on November 13, 2014. Details will be announced.
