Goshen Farm wine tasting

If you like good wine and fine food, you’ll want to take part in the Goshen Farm Wine Tasting! The event will be held on Saturday, October 11, from 4 to 7 PM at 1504 Stacey Lane, Annapolis, MD 21409. Goshen Farm is located in the Broadneck area of Annapolis, just off of Cape St. Claire Road near the entrance to the Cape St. Claire community.

The Goshen Farm Preservation Society, Inc., supports the preservation and restoration of the historic Goshen Farm house and property and has made great strides since its formation in 2006. The farmhouse was constructed in the 1780s and sits among meadows and woods on 22 acres. Several original outbuildings remain standing in addition to the original structure. The Society has cleaned up and maintained the land, partially restored the exterior of the farmhouse and installed a new roof, and opened a Sharing Garden that allows members to “work the land” to grow their own fresh foods. Goshen Farm is also home to two Eagle Scout projects and one Girl Scout Gold Award project, with more to come.

Goshen Farm is a community treasure, and the Society has been working since 2007 to preserve the property for future generations. Louis Biondi, President of the Goshen Farm Preservation Society, remarked, “This is our third wine tasting to raise funds for the restoration of the farmhouse and preservation of this historic property. Each year the attendance has increased because it is such a bargain. Good wine, good food, good people…all for fifteen dollars. We truly appreciate the generosity of Bella’s Liquors and appreciate their sponsorship of this event. Few people know the charitable work they do from sponsoring church events at St. Andrews to providing an annual scholarship to a graduate of Broadneck High School. We also thank Art Lewis of Culinary Art for serving up tasty accompaniments to the featured wines.”

The suggested donation for the wine tasting is $15 per person and includes 6 pourings and a paired menu of food and hors d’oeuvres. The event is restricted to ages 21 and older. All proceeds benefit the preservation and restoration of the farm.
