Ganz and Johnson team up to bring music to Universalist Church of Annapolis

Ganz & JohnsonOn Friday, September 26 at 8 pm pianist Brian Ganz, widely regarded as one of the leading pianists of his generation, and long-time friend and colleague flutist Karen Johnson will present “Best Friends Make the Best Music.” A versatile and innovative artist, Johnson has been principal flutist of the Washington Bach Consort and has performed with Stevie Wonder. The program will feature 20th century masterpieces for flute and piano such as the Poulenc Sonata and Dutilleux Sonatine, as well as less familiar but intriguing works by Anne Boyd, Scott Wheeler , David Froom and Joseph Schwantner. The concert will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis (UUCA), 333 Dubois Road. Tickets are $15 at the door. For more information visit www.uuannapolis.org/slider/fourth-friday or call 410-266-8044.

This program is part of the “Brian Ganz and Friends” concert series offered monthly to benefit the UUCA church’s work. For over 30 years Johnson and Ganz have sought to uplift and transform audiences with their engaging programs. Just back from a rousing springtime recital in Alba, Italy, the two join forces in Annapolis for the first time in many years to thrill audiences with their artistry.  “Karen’s playing always overflows with beauty and poetry,” Ganz said. “She imbues every note with love.”
