Mets grab pitcher’s duel from Baysox

Baysox 2013IMG_9949The Baysox got an outstanding start from LHP Anthony Vasquez but Binghamton broke a tie game in the eighth inning sending Bowie to a 2-1 defeat Saturday night. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Baysox.

Bowie grabbed the lead in the second inning. DH David Adams and SS Garabez Rosa singled to start the inning. Then with one retired, 3B Sharlon Schoop singled home Adams to give the Baysox a 1-0 lead.

Vasquez held onto the lead until the sixth inning. Consecutive two-out singles brought home the tying run. The last off the bat of RF Darrell Ceciliani to tie the game.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Baysox had runners at second and third after two walks and a wild pitch with one down. A strikeout and a popout got Binghamton out of the jam.

The Mets pushed a runner to third base with two down in the bottom of the inning. 3B TJ Rivera singled up the middle to score the winning run. Bowie’s LF Glynn Davis singled with one down in the ninth inning but could not advance.

The Baysox look to fend off the sweep attempt in Binghamton Sunday, August 3rd at 6:35 p.m. with RHP Zach Davies on the hill. Coverage starts 20-minutes prior to first pitch on 1430-AM WNAV and 99.9 FM in the city of Annapolis.
