Beaulieu Vineyard® (BV), a historic Napa Valley winery, owned by Diageo Chateau and Estates, announced an expansion to their partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Trust. During the months of August, September and October, BV Wine will focus sales force efforts in Delaware, Maryland and Washington, DC at participating retailers and restaurants in an effort to raise funds to help the Chesapeake Bay. Last year the program was executed only in Maryland by Diageo Chateau and Estates’ distributor, Reliable Churchill, raising $5,000 for the Chesapeake Bay Trust, a nonprofit organization that funds restoration and community outreach efforts to improve local waters and the Chesapeake Bay.

Beaulieu Vineyard and Charmer Sunbelt Group, parent company of Reliable Churchill, will expand this program to be offered by United Distributors of Delaware and Washington Wholesale as well. Unique promotional materials and specially created Chesapeake Bay-themed BV Wine displays to be showcased in retail outlets throughout the region. During the course of this three-month promotion, wine drinkers are encouraged to ask their local restaurants and wine retail shops for more information on this partnership.

“When you walk into your local retail store, we simply ask that you consider purchasing BV Wine so that you can help us help the Bay,” said Hal Hindin, Sales Director, Diageo Mid-Atlantic Region.” In addition to enjoying an exceptional product such as BV Wine, you are also doing something great for our community, and for our Bay.”

Restaurants and bars throughout the region have the opportunity to offer BV products to their customers knowing that Beaulieu Vineyards will make a donation to the Chesapeake Bay Trust as a result. Promotional materials are available for participating locations and restaurant diners will have the opportunity to help the Bay simply by purchasing BV Wine. In return, the Chesapeake Bay Trust will promote all participating retail businesses and restaurants through its website www.cbtrust.org, as well as through other outreach channels.

“We are pleased to build on the great partnership with Reliable Churchill and BV Wine once again, and are thrilled to see it expand beyond Maryland,” said Molly Alton Mullins, director of communications for the Chesapeake Bay Trust. “We are very appreciative of 30-plus retailers who supported this program last year and we look forward to showcasing many more who join with us and show their support for improving the Chesapeake Bay.”

Since 1985, the Chesapeake Bay Trust has awarded more than $65 million in grants to improve the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers through environmental education, community outreach, and watershed restoration. For eleven consecutive years, the Trust has received a ‘Four Star Rating” from Charity Navigator, placing the organization in the top 1 percent of charities nationwide.  Ninety cents of every dollar the Trust receives is directed to programs and projects that benefit the environment.
