UPDATE: Clerk shot to death in Hanover Exxon

On Thursday, August 7th, 2014 at about 1:35 a.m., Anne Arundel County Police received a 911 call from a customer of the Exxon gas station located at 7898 Ridge Road, Hanover, MD 21076 in reference to the clerk being found injured/unconscious. Responding police officers and fire/EMS personnel responded and determined the clerk was deceased, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Surveillance video at the scene shows a male suspect entering the
Exxon station and confronting the clerk shortly after 1 a.m. The
suspect shoots the clerk, takes an undetermined amount of cash from
behind the counter and flees on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as an African American male, unknown age, average build, wearing a dark hooded sweat shirt, tan or light colored shorts, armed with a handgun.

The victim has been identified as Rajinder Kumar, 49 years old white
male, from Glen Burnie, MD.
Next of kin has been notified.

Police personnel will be on the scene this morning into the morning
rush hour. The business will be closed through at least the morning
hours, but the roadways around the business are open.
