On Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 11:48PM, Annapolis Fire Department units were dispatched to a reported commercial vehicle fire, in the area of 8 Market Space in downtown Annapolis.

Upon arrival, units found a 2007 Progressive Tank truck with fire in the engine compartment area. The tank truck was used to remove waste cooking oils and greases from restaurants.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, preventing any damage to surrounding buildings. No injuries were reported.

Eleven (11) firefighters operated for approximately one hour and eighteen minutes (1:18) before clearing the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Annapolis Fire Department, Fire and Explosive Services Unit (FESU).
