MSP investigating Park N Ride death in Annapolis

| July 10, 2014, 10:47 AM | 0 Comments

Crime SceneMaryland State Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in a car in an Anne Arundel County parking lot yesterday.

The man has not been positively identified. A wallet was found on the body with identification that was the same as the person to whom the vehicle is registered. Investigators believe the body may be that of a 37-year-old Eastern Shore man reported missing on July 4, 2014 by family he was visiting in Southern Maryland. Troopers have been in contact with his family, but will await positive identification before identifying him. His body has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. It is hoped the autopsy will provide a positive identification, as well as the cause and manner of death.

At about 4:00 p.m. yesterday, Maryland State Police from the Glen Burnie Barrack responded to the park and ride lot on the Harry S. Truman Parkway, Annapolis, for the report of a body inside a car. Police had been notified by a man walking through the area who had passed the black Saturn Vue that was parked in the far corner of the lot.

Maryland State Police investigators from the Criminal Enforcement Division and crime scene technicians from the Forensic Sciences Division responded to the scene, as did a forensic investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Anne Arundel County Police also provided assistance.

Investigators noted trauma on the body, but the preliminary investigation indicates the wound may have been self-inflicted. However, all possibilities are being investigated until further definitive information is developed from the autopsy.
