Annapolis Police arrest Severn man after gun discharge

shotsfiredLast night at 6:30pm, the Annapolis Police Department responded to the Harbour House community for a report someone shooting from a vehicle.  Officers located a vehicle matching the description given leaving the area.  The vehicle stopped in the 800 block of Chesapeake Av, four occupants stayed inside the vehicle, but one man ran from the vehicle carrying a handgun.

Officers gave chase and quickly found the handgun dropped in the backyard of a home in the 800 block of Bay Ridge Av.  Officers continued to search the area for the man who ran and located him at 7pm in a yard in the 800 block of Chesapeake Av.

He was arrested and is identified as Delvonta Wright, 22, of Severn.  Wright is awaiting his initial court hearing where he will be charged with carrying a handgun on person, carrying a handgun in a vehicle, discharging a firearm in Annapolis, reckless endangerment, theft less than $1,000, and stealing a registered firearm.

According to electronic court records, Wright was charged with a similar crime in Annapolis in 2012. That case was placed on the stet docket which means there was no action taken on it. There was no guilty verdict.
