Baysox 2013IMG_9997The last time the Harrisburg Senators were in town, they were swept by the Baysox in a four-game series. They did not have the same problem Friday night as they beat the Baysox 11-5 to open the three-game weekend series.

With the game tied 3-3 after five innings, the Senators put up eight runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings run away with the game. The Baysox bullpen was tagged for six runs over those three innings.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold was the Designated Hitter for the Baysox Friday, making a Major League rehab assignment. He went 1-for-4 with a single and a walk.

Harrisburg jumped out to an early lead against Baysox starter Eduardo Rodriguez. Michael Taylor hit a lead off infield single and moved to second base on a single to left field. After Cutter Dykstra grounded into a double play, Matt Skole drew a walk and Kevin Keyes then hit a 3-run shot to left-center field to give the Senators a 3-0 lead.

The Baysox got two runs back in the bottom half of the inning against Harrisburg starter Zach Kroenke. Ronald Bermudez hit a lead off double to center field, Niuman Romero walked and Nolan Reimold singled to shortstop to load the bases. Back-to-back sacrifice flies then made the score 3-2.

The Senators came right back to retake the lead in the top of the sixth inning. Kevin Keyes walked and Jason Martinson singled to left field before Juan Morillo replaced Rodriguez on the mound. With one out, Mitch Canham and Adrian Sanchez each hit RBI singles for the first two runs of the inning. Canham and Sanchez each came around to score later in the inning on wild pitches by Morillo to give Harrisburg a 7-3 lead.

The Baysox picked up two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Dariel Alvarez hit a lead off single to center field and Kang hit a two-out double to left field before Paolo Espino replaced Kroenke on the mound. Rosa then came through with a two-RBI single to center field to make the score 7-5.

Harrisburg added to the lead again in the top of the seventh inning against Baysox reliever Fabio Castillo. Skole drew a lead off walk and Keyes followed with a single to right field. Both runners advanced on a Martinson sacrifice bunt and Quincy Latimore single to left field to give the Senators a 9-5 lead.

The Senators kept the runs coming in the top of the eighth inning against Baysox reliever Anthony Vasquez. Caleb Ramsey hit a one-out single to left field and scored on a Dykstra triple to center field. Skole brought Dykstra home with a sacrifice fly to left field to give Harrisburg an 11-5 lead.
