Rodriguez stellar as Baysox sweep

Baysox 2013IMG_9949Starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez was in control and relievers Marcel Prado and Oliver Drake closed the door as the Baysox upended Trenton 3-2 in the series finale.

Rodriguez worked six innings for his first win since opening day. The Baysox lefty had a stretch of ten in a row retired and was unfazed other than a two-out two-run second inning rally.

Bowie started working back in the third inning. SS Garabez Rosa hit a solo home run to left field on a 3-2 pitch to make it 2-1. After a David Adams sacrifice fly tied the score in the fifth inning it was time for LF KD Kang. He hit his fifth home run of the year, well out to right field.

Rodriguez then gave way to reliever Marcel Prado who retired all six batters he faced. That gave way to Drake. After a leadoff single by Thunder C Gary Sanchez, a slow ground ball out moved the runner to second base. Drake then got a strikeout and a groundout to end the game and Bowie won it by a final of 3-2.

The win was the fourth in a row for the Baysox and closed a second road sweep on the year. The other was a three-game sweep in Richmond in Mid May.

After a day off Thursday, the Baysox return home for a six game homestand beginning Friday, June 20th at 6:35 p.m. against Binghamton. Fireworks will follow Fort Meade Night presented by USAA Insurance. For tickets contact the Baysox at 301-464-4865 or order online at baysox.com.
