Neuman takes her ball and leaves the party

TakeBallUPDATE:  Per The Capital, Neuman later returned to Buddy’s Crabs and Ribs and made a brief statement congratulating Schuh on the victory.

For someone who ran a campaign highlighting her professionalism and business acumen, Anne Arundel County Executive Laura Neuman sure did not show it when she was defeated in the Republican primary in Anne Arundel County.

As soon as results started to come in, her opponent, Steve Schuh, was ahead and he maintained that lead throughout the evening.

As Delegate Schuh was declaring victory…

County Executive Neuman was holding on…

Without explanation, Neuman left her “victory” party…

And did not return…

In fact, Buddy’s Crabs & Ribs, emptied out without a single word uttered by the County Executive.

Her supporters were disappointed…

Until just before 1230am when she tweeted her concession from (presumably) home.

It seems as if the County Executive got into a tiff on the playground, took her ball and went home. I wonder how that whole “no matter who wins we need to come together as a party” thing will shake out?

We updated this story early this morning after learning that Neuman did in fact return to Buddy’s Crabs & Ribs to issue a statement.

So there you have it. Delegate Steve Schuh wins the Republican primary and will face Democrat George Johnson in November.
