New Hampshire used three home runs to beat the Baysox 7-5 in the series opener Tuesday night. Five of New Hampshire’s seven runs came via the home run with the final two-run blast breaking a 5-5 tie with two outs in the top of the ninth inning. It is the second-consecutive lead blown by the Baysox bullpen in the eighth inning or later.

Baysox first baseman Christian Walker had a great night, hitting his league-leading 17th home run and recording a career-high five total RBI. He was responsible for all five runs scored by the Baysox Tuesday.

Playing with the Baysox on a Major League Rehab Assignment, Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold went 1-for-3 with a single and a strikeout.

The Fisher Cats took a quick lead in the top of the first inning against Baysox starter Tim Berry. Melky Mesa was hit by a pitch to start the game and Jon Berti followed with a double to left field that moved Mesa to third base. Ryan Schimpf plated Mesa with a sacrifice fly to left field and Hector Gimenez lined into a double play to end the inning with New Hampshire up 1-0.

The Baysox took the lead right back in the bottom half of the inning against New Hampshire starter Scott Copeland. Niuman Romero hit a one-out single down the left field line and Walker brought him home with a two-out, two-run shot to left field to give Bowie a 2-1 lead.

Berti tied the game 2-2 for New Hampshire with a solo home run to left field in the top of the third inning.

The Fisher Cats broke the tie in the top of the sixth inning. Andy Burns and Mike McDade hit back-to-back singles and Burns then scored on a sacrifice bunt by Jonathan Jones to give New Hampshire a 3-2 lead.

New Hampshire added to the lead in the top of the seventh inning against Baysox reliever Marcel Prado. With one out, Berti was hit by a pitch and Gimenez then hit a two-out homer to right field to give the Fisher Cats a 5-2 lead.

The Baysox came back to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh inning against New Hampshire reliever Sergio Santos. Garabez Rosa hit a one-out single to left field and K.D. Kang then walked. With two outs, Johnny Ruettiger reached on an infield single to third base to load the bases and Walked followed with a bases clearing double to shallow right field to make the score 5-5. The ball was a pop-fly that managed to drop in-between the second baseman, center fielder and left field and because there were two-outs in the inning and all runners were going, everyone had a chance to score on the play.

New Hampshire jumped back into the lead in the top of the ninth inning. Berti drew a two-out walk and Ryan Schimpf followed with a two-run blast to center field to put the Fisher Cats up 7-5.

Berry pitched six innings and allowed three runs on six hits while walking two and striking out four in the no decision. Prado pitched three innings and allowed four runs on two hits while striking out three and walking one in the loss.

New Hampshire reliever Arik Sikula picked up the win for New Hampshire, pitching a scoreless eighth inning where he walked one batter and struck out another.

Baltimore Orioles RHP Miguel Gonzalez takes the mound for the Baysox Wednesday on a Major League rehab start as the team plays the second game in a three game home series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. He will be opposed by RHP P.J. Walters (1-0, 2.13).
