Bullpen strong, but Baysox fall short

Baysox 2013IMG_9694The Baysox could not make it four in a row in Richmond as they dropped the series finale 4-3 Sunday afternoon. Bowie got 4 and 1/3rd scoreless innings from their pen but could not come all the way back.

Richmond knocked Baysox starter Eduardo Rodriguez from the game in the fourth inning. Rodriguez battled through three innings allowing just an earned run but throwing 67 pitches. In the fourth with a run in and a runner at first he walked consecutive batters to load the bases with two down. Richmond SS Matt Duffy than singled home two runs and Richmond was on top 4-2.

Out of the pen came Julio DePaula for his Orioles organizational debut and he worked 2 and 1/3rd scoreless innings before Mychal Givens threw two scoreless in his third Bowie appearance.

The Baysox registered a two out rally in the eighth inning as the third hit of the ballgame for C David Freitas drove home SS Garabez Rosa to make it 4-3. Bowie went down in order in the 9th.

The Baysox took three of five games in the series and now return home 3.5 games back of Richmond. Richmond has won every Sunday game this year incredibly going 13-0 to date. The Baysox will send LHP Anthony Vasquez to the hill Monday against Altoona.
