Annual Burn Ride scheduled for Saturday

AnneArundelFireDepartmentOn Saturday June 14, 2014, from 08:30 a.m. to approximately 11:00 a.m., motorists should be prepared for traffic delays on MD Route 2 (Ritchie Highway) and U.S. Route 50 eastbound from the Severn River Bridge to the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge (Bay Bridge).

The traffic delays will be related to the Anne Arundel County Professional Fire Fighters Burn Foundation charity ride. The event is expected to draw several hundred up to 1,000 motorcyclists. The ride will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will proceed across the Bay Bridge no later than 10:00 a.m.

This year’s event will be departing from the Anne Arundel Community College, Parking lot “F” adjacent to West Campus Drive. The ride will travel west along West Campus Drive, making a left turn onto Governor Ritchie Highway (MD Rt. 2 south), merging onto U.S. Route 50 (East) eventually crossing the Bay Bridge and ending at Mears Point Marina in Kent Narrows. Riders should arrive at the Community College no later than 8:45 a.m.

Motorists on the following roadways and adjacent roadways will be most impacted:

–MD Route 2 (Ritchie Highway) between College Parkway and U.S. Route 50.

–U.S. Route 50 eastbound from the Severn River Bridge to the William Preston Lane Jr. Memorial Bridge (Bay Bridge)

There will be marked Anne Arundel County Police vehicles with assistance from several other agencies present during the event assisting with traffic control along the route. Please plan ahead and exercise patience during this ride.
