Alvarez lifts Baysox to comeback win

Baysox 2013IMG_9937Baysox CF Dariel Alvarez hit a three-run home run to left field to lift Bowie to a 5-2 win over Trenton on Tuesday night at Arm & Hammer Park.

Down 2-1 in the eighth, the Baysox had two men on with two out when Alvarez reached out and lifted a fly ball well over the left field wall delivering the decisive blow. The three- run home run was his 12th of the year and the Baysox had a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the eight, Steve Hensley came out of the pen and walked consecutive hitters. After a bunt single loaded the bases with no outs, Hensley fought his way out of the jam. He got a strikeout, a tapper in front of the plate and a fly ball to end the inning unharmed. Hensley worked a perfect ninth inning for the save.

Bowie got a strong start from RHP Tyler Wilson who registered his third win in a row and eighth of the year. That mark is tops in the entire Orioles minor league system. He went seven innings, allowing six hits and two runs in the winning effort.

The series concludes on Wednesday, June 18th at 7:05 p.m. as LHP Eduardo Rodriguez goes for the sweep. Coverage begins 20-minutes prior on wnav.com.

Bowie will soon be home for a six game homestand beginning Friday, June 20th at 6:35 p.m. against Binghamton. Fireworks will follow Fort Meade Night presented by USAA Insurance. For tickets contact the Baysox at 301-464-4865 or order online at baysox.com.
