The SERC Evening Lecture Series continues on May 20th!
Talk: “Chesapeake Catch: Fisheries Research at SERC”
Speaker: Dr. Matt Ogburn
Summary: Aquatic life in the Chesapeake is constantly in flux. While Maryland’s blue crabs have shown signs of improvement, a big new predator—the nonnative blue catfish—is expanding its range in Maryland’s rivers. Learn how Smithsonian ecologists are tracking them with new technology, and what they’ve discovered about blue crabs, river herring and blue catfish.
