Appraisal Fair at the Chase-Lloyd House on June 14th

chase-lloyd-houseChase Home, its Board of Trustees, and the Women’s Auxiliary are offering a wonderful opportunity to experience the beauty of Chase Lloyd House and the pleasure of an afternoon in its garden.  On Flag Day, June 14, 2014, the home will hold an appraisal fair from 1 to 4 PM, rain or shine, sponsored by Freeman’s Auctioneers of Philadelphia.   Everyone is welcome to bring items for appraisal by professionals.  Rare books, manuscripts and maps, jewelry, painting and prints, sculpture, silver, and decorative arts will be appraised firsthand.  American, English, and Continental furniture can be viewed by photograph.  Please bring only what you can manage.  You can bring photographs of larger items.

Fair activities will include music, plein air artists, themed basket raffles, and a live auction of paintings.  Participants will also enjoy a tour of the elegant 18th century Chase Lloyd mansion and hear about its fascinating history of early Americans and the women who have lived in it.  Proceeds will be used for improvements to the house to enhance the comfort of its residents.

Start looking through your things and bring some of them to the garden of Chase Home at 22 Maryland Avenue.  Entrance will be from King George Street.  Free parking is available at the nearby state lot on St. John’s Street.  The cost will be $5 for admission and a house tour only, $15 for the tour and the appraisal of one item, $25 for the tour and two items, and $30 for the tour and 3 items.  We look forward to joining you on Flag Day to honor the memory of a frequent guest of Chase Lloyd House, Francis Scott Key.
