Annapolis Mayor Mike Pantelides and MainStreets Annapolis Partnership (MAP) President Steve Samaras celebrated the blossoming of the 2014 shopping season with the launch of Annapolis in Bloom last week.
Now in its 16th year, the downtown flower program is the newest signature activity of the Main Street program. MAP is pleased to be working closely with the City of Annapolis, Homestead Gardens, Annapolis Green, and more than a dozen major donors to beautify our Annapolis business districts. According to MAP Executive Director, Lisa Craig, crowd sourcing has resulted in significant support from the community. “We launched a crowd sourcing strategy during a recent Green Drinks event hosted at Homestead Gardens by Annapolis Green. Since then we’ve secured more than $13,000 in gifts ranging from $15 to $1000 from residents, business owners, and nonprofits who appreciate the beautiful blooming flower baskets and pots that announce Spring has come to our historic seaport.”
100 baskets and 30 containers brimming over with blooms will be distributed from Main Street to Maryland Avenue up West Street and over the Eastport bridge. Major donors, the “Blooming Heroes,” who are supporting our local business by contributing to Annapolis in Bloom include:

The fundraising drive is now in full swing. Still $7,000 short of the $40,000 goal, MAP invites residents and businesses to “Fund a Flower, Build a Basket, or Plant a Pot” by donating to Annapolis in Bloom at www.mainstreetsannapolis.org.
