Taking Back Sunday & The Used play The Fillmore

“When I first heard that Taking Back Sunday and The Used were doing a co-headlining tour, I have to admit that my inner high school self got a little giddy. Taking Back Sunday(TBS) was one of first alt-rock/pop punk bands that made me branch out from my metal/hardcore teenage years. Looking around at The Fillmore‘s sold out crowd in Silver Spring, it clearly showed that I wasn’t the only one who stuck around to show support to the bands that clearly helped build what the punk/alt-rock scene is today. But wait isn’t punk dead? Clearly not with most of the tour dates quickly selling out. Besides us old timers who have spent over a decade under the influence (huh..get it? see what I did there), there was clearly a new breed of young eager fans crowding the front barricade. Many seeing the band for the first time and even a couple who admitted they had just been introduced to their music thanks to their recent Vans Warped Tour performances.

Taking Back Sunday is currently touring in support of the latest album, “Happiness Is,” which was released on March 14th and debuted at No. 10 on Billboard’s albums chart, while The Used’s is also supporting their new album “Imaginary Enemy” which dropped April 1st. Both bands did an awesome job with adding their new material to the setlist but still making sure the show had a very nostalgic feeling, The crowd seemed to sing the loudest to some of the bands biggest hits “Cute Without the ‘E’ ” and “You Know How I Do”.
