Subaru donates nearly $13K to Chesapeake Bay Trust

chesbaySubaru of America, Inc. (“SOA”) in partnership with two local dealerships, Annapolis Subaru and Gateway Subaru, presented almost $13,000 to the Chesapeake Bay Trust as a part of the 2013 Subaru “Share the Love” event.  The Chesapeake Bay Trust is a nonprofit, grantmaking organization dedicated to restoring the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams.  At an event held at the Annapolis Subaru store, supporters of the Trust and Subaru alike attended to learn how much was raised to benefit the Chesapeake Bay.

“Both Annapolis Subaru and Gateway Subaru are deeply committed to protecting the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland’s natural resources,” said Frank J. Ferrogine, Dealer Principal. “We are so pleased to work with the Chesapeake Bay Trust through the ‘Share the Love’ campaign as it provides a great opportunity to fund on-the-ground restoration work that is making a difference for our waters.”

From Nov. 21, 2013 to Jan. 2, 2014, customers who purchased or leased a new Subaru vehicle could select from a list of charities to receive a donation of $250 from SOA.  This year, Subaru of America, Inc. donated $10 million to participating charities. Over the last six years SOA has donated $35 million to a number of worthy causes through the “Share the Love” event.

SOA selected the five national charities: ASPCA®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals On Wheels Association of America®, National Park Foundation and Teach for America. Subaru retailers could also elect to add a sixth, local charity and both Subaru Annapolis and Gateway Subaru selected Chesapeake Bay Trust as its local partner.

“Subaru customers deeply value their natural resources and here in Maryland, nothing is more treasured than the Chesapeake Bay,” said Molly Alton Mullins, director of communications for the Chesapeake Bay Trust. “We are honored to work with both Annapolis Subaru and Gateway Subaru and we sincerely thank them for their generous support and commitment to the Chesapeake Bay Trust, and to the Chesapeake Bay.”

Ferrogine, dealer principal of both locations, presented a check on behalf of Gateway Subaru for $2,166.64. The second donation, on behalf of the Annapolis Subaru location, totaled $10,458.22.  The Chesapeake Bay Trust, a 4-Star charity as ranked by Charity Navigator, takes 90 cents of every dollar it receives and dedicates it to projects and programs than benefit local communities and the Chesapeake Bay.
