Hospice of the Chesapeake volunteers and staff recently celebrated National Volunteer Week (April 6-12) at the nonprofit’s annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held April 6 at the Westin Hotel in Annapolis.

Attended by approximately 175 Hospice of the Chesapeake volunteers, among them were this year’s Spirit of Hospice Award recipients Richard “Dick” Sickels of Edgewater and Virginia “Ginny” Beeson of Dunkirk, MD. The Spirit of Hospice Award was inaugurated in 2007 to acknowledge the commitment of our non-patient care volunteers. The assistance they provide in our various departments is vital to carrying out the mission at Hospice of the Chesapeake.

Rob Keck of Annapolis received the 2014 Joseph P. and Elizabeth Earley Award for his dedication to patient care. The Earley Award honors exemplary and extraordinary care provided to Hospice of the Chesapeake’s patients.

In honor of Hospice of the Chesapeake’s Honor Salute program, a new Veterans Service Award was presented to Midshipman Kimberly Bernardy for her time and dedication to honoring veteran patients with a salute and a plaque for their service to the country.
