Chesapeake Bay Trust launches “Plate Perks”

plateperks_webgraphicToday, in conjunction with Earth Day, a new incentives and rewards program called “Plate Perks” was launched by the Chesapeake Bay Trust. The program is designed to raise awareness for the valuable work the Chesapeake Bay Trust does and how the sales of “Treasure the Chesapeake” license plates have a direct impact on improving the Bay.

Bay plate owners will now receive “perks/rewards” including preferred parking at various locations in Maryland as well as discounts on merchandise and services from various businesses. Bay plate “membership” cards have been produced and will be distributed to any Bay plate owner who is interested, free of charge. Businesses that participate in the “Plate Perks” Program gain exposure by being listed on the bayplate.org website and through other marketing efforts.

The founding partners and their respective incentives include:

  • Bay Deejays – 5% discount on services to all Bay plate owners with membership card
  • Boatyard Bar & Grill – Preferred parking for 1 Bay plate owner
  • Bowie Baysox – $5 off each ticket for Monday night home games (up to 4 tickets) with membership card
  • Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company – Discounted refills in roastery with membership card and 25% off online orders with promo code: plateperks25

CBT - photo 2“The Chesapeake Bay Trust is so thankful for the more than 400,000 Marylanders who have purchased a ‘Treasure the Chesapeake’ license plate and we wanted to do something to give back to them,” said Jana Davis, executive director of the Chesapeake Bay Trust. “The 20 dollars Marylanders spend when they purchase a Bay plate goes a long way toward restoring our streams, planting new trees, and getting kids outside. We hope that Bay plate owners will take advantage of these great deals and see multiple benefits to owning a Bay plate.”

Businesses of any size are welcome to participate in the Plate Perks program and can structure a deal and/or incentive that works for their company. Additional “perks” business partners will be announced in the coming weeks and any business interested in participating can contact Molly Alton Mullins at [email protected].

“We are proud to support the Chesapeake Bay Trust and to be one of the first businesses to participate in the Plate Perks program,” said Michael Waldon, Brand Manager, Chesapeake Roasting Company. “Through our H2O Initiative, we’re deeply committed to Bay restoration and this is one more way for us to achieve that goal.”

“We jumped at the opportunity to get involved in the program, “ said Kevin Gersonde, General Manager, Yellowfin Steak & Fish House. “With our South River location and large parking lot, it seemed very logical to offer four of our prime parking spots to Bay plate owners. It’s a simple way to help get the word out about the great work that the Chesapeake Bay Trust does.”

“The Bowie Baysox has partnered with the Chesapeake Bay Trust for many years, including promoting Bay awareness during our Friday ‘Bay Night’ home games,” said Brian Shallcross, General Manager, Bowie Baysox. “We hope this program will continue to showcase to our fans how committed we are to the community and to protecting Maryland’s most treasured natural resource, the Chesapeake Bay.”
