Hunt School of Irish Dance to perform at South River High

huntHunt School of Irish Dance, a traditional Irish dance school located in Crofton, Maryland, will host its first annual Hunt School Showcase on March 29.  The spectacular event will celebrate Irish culture through performances that combine innovative choreography with traditional steps.  With dancers from beginning to championship level, the Showcase promises to enthrall audience members of all ages with Riverdance-style performances, classic ceili dances, and solo performances from nationally-recognized dancers.

Beverly Hunt O’Connor, co-owner of the Hunt School of Irish Dance, conceived the Showcase as a way to highlight the school’s unique talent, and competitive local dancers. “We’re excited for Hunt School’s first annual Showcase.  We perform throughout the year in many different venues, but this is the first time we are producing a show with our entire company of dancers.”  The Showcase will feature more than seventy dancers including the school’s World and National championship qualifiers.  Sheila Hunt Murray, co-owner of Hunt School, emphasizes the show’s distinct and entertaining array of performances,”The audience will enjoy the traditional Irish step dancing routines as well as some cutting-edge choreography set to contemporary music, starring some of the best Irish step dancers in the Southern region.”

Audience members can enjoy refreshments and a selection of Irish music by Mike Schwarzmann during the intermission as well as purchase 50/50 and basket raffles, such as an American Girl doll basket featuring the new doll of the year, Isabelle.  Proceeds benefit the Hunt School as they travel to National Championships in July and the Southern Region Oireachtas in December 2014.

Tickets can be purchased for $15.00 in advance through the Hunt School website, www.huntschool.org or at the door on the day of the performance.  Inquiries regarding the show, as well as interviews with Beverly Hunt O’Connor and Sheila Hunt Murray, should be directed to Katie Riley at 410-271-9357.
