Maintaining Your Business CyberSecurity: Free Symposium At AACC

Cybersecurity New cyber attacks hit businesses every day, making the demand for skilled cyber workers even higher as the cybersecurity industry continues to explode. Anne Arundel Community College’s 4th Annual Cybersecurity and Entrepreneurship Symposium on Feb. 14 will not only offer information about grant and scholarship opportunities for budding cyber entrepreneurs, but will also provide small business connections with the Department of Defense and case studies to help you avoid cyber attacks at your business.

Ben Smith, a technology evangelist with the security leader RSA, is the keynote speaker for this year’s symposium, “Anatomy of a Cyber Attack…Mind Your OWN Business.” Smith will provide details about the widely publicized, nation-state-sponsored cyber attack against his company. The free symposium meets from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at the Center for Applied Learning and Technology (CALT) Room 100 at Anne Arundel Community College’s Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.

Breakout sessions include:

  • Kick-starting your career in cybersecurity.
  • Cyber breaches and your business: case studies from experts.
  • Becoming a cybersecurity entrepreneur.
  • Grant and scholarship opportunities for the cyber entrepreneur.
  • Small business opportunities with the Department of Defense.

The symposium is hosted by AACC’s Business Management and Entrepreneurial Studies Department, the CyberCenter and the Computer Technologies Department.

Attendees will be entered to win a Toshiba Satellite laptop provided by the AACC Foundation. The drawing will take place at 2:45 p.m. and winners must be present.
